Hello, my name is Monika Przybyl-Diaz, I am a fully qualified integrative/ relational counsellor, registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and adhere to their Code of Ethics.
In my practice I offer a warm, empathetic and non-judgmental space where you can go through your own journey, at your own pace. As a counsellor, with my knowledge and experience, I will offer you support to explore what brought you to seek counselling in the first place. My role is to empower you to have the strength so that you can look at those difficult feelings and help you reach your goals.
I understand how difficult it can be to ask for support when life gets on top of you, however, that initial call could mean that you want something different, something better in your life.
If you do decide that you would want to meet with me, I offer an initial session which will give us a chance to talk and to answer any questions that you may have. This time is dedicated to explore the reasons why you seek counselling and to find out about your goals and expectations.
Please explore my website and if you would like to get in touch, please write to me using the Contact page.
I also have experience working with mothers suffering from post natal depression.
I worked as a counsellor in an agency providing counselling sessions for clients struggling with alcohol addiction.
I am qualified Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate (IDVA) and for two years I offered supported to victims of domectic abuse.
I have experience of working with the following:
Low confidence and self esteem
Feelings of shame and guilt
Bereavement and loss
Trauma from child abuse and abandonment
Relationship concerns or break ups
I also offer counselling in Polish language.
In my practice I use a wide spectrum of approaches to accommodate your unique needs. Some of the approaches that I use include: Person-Centred, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis (TA), Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Working as a relational counsellor I aim for our relationship to be open, respectful, honest and safe for challenges to be explored and understood for you to see the changes happening.
My clients often hear from friends, family and professionals "What is wrong with you?". I do not believe that is the right question. I believe a question that should be asked is "What had happened to you in life?"
I am passionate about the power of listening, where you feel respected, honoured, valued for who you are, where you can be yourself without being judged. During counselling sessions, I offer empathy, curiosity, patience, acceptance and congruence to allow you to thrive, gain self confidence, find answers that are right for you, for you to get understanding of your life situation. I see this as a gift, a gift that you can give yourself, a tool box that you can pack your own resource, skills which you can take with you through your life. Skills that you have not had the chance to develop yet!
